Trinidad and Tobago Police Service- Policing for People Initiative - JSS is supporting the implementation of “Policing for People” at five “model stations” across Trinidad by coordinating in-service training, facilitating strategic planning, supervising field advisors, assisting with manpower management and supporting media efforts. JSS has hired Lt. Mike Wells, a former manager and leader with the Concord Police Department, to manage comprehensive 40 hour in-service training for over 500 constables, corporals and sergeants. JSS has hired eight additional consultants with law enforcement experience to conduct the training using modular, interactive adult learning methods. Dr. Uchida, Col. Shreve and Ms. Solomon are facilitating strategic planning efforts and manpower management through one-on-one visits, bi-monthly meetings and supervisory retreats. Beginning in June 2007, Col. Shreve will coordinate the efforts of three police managers who will serve as field advisors, assisting the station commanders with day-to-day operational management.
